Relationship managers at large investment houses are naturally limited to representing in-house funds and encouraged to market them regardless of investment merit.
After years inside this ecosystem, we wanted a different path: the freedom to work with the best independent fund managers who in turn would benefit from the sales and marketing expertise of a veteran relationship managers with institutional knowledge.
21 Capital Advisors was built on a simple principle: the freedom to represent only what we genuinely believe in, and to service clients on both sides of the transaction with the same commitment to integrity and transparency.
Urs Alder
Founder & Managing Partner
Urs brings more than 20 years of experience in alternative investment product development, distribution, and client management — the majority built within RMF / Glenwood / Man Group, some of the world's largest and most respected alternative asset managers. Urs began his career in 1997 as a strategy analyst in the CFO office of Swiss Bank Corporation / UBS. He joined Man Group via RMF, where he spent two years structuring alternative investment products before moving into a global research and product development role. Rising through senior positions across structuring, strategy, and distribution, Urs developed an intimate understanding of the entire product and distribution value chain. From 2012 to 2020, Urs served as Managing Director and Regional Manager for Switzerland and Liechtenstein at Man Group — a period in which the firm's AUM grew from $20 billion to $120 billion and its product range expanded across hedge funds, alternative risk premia, private markets, and long-only strategies. During this time, he built a broad and deep network spanning Swiss private banks, wealth managers, asset managers, pension funds, insurance groups, and family offices. Urs has held senior roles across Man Group's US, UK, Australian, and Swiss offices, providing him with the cultural fluency and global perspective that supports strong cross-border relationships. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Zurich and holds both Swiss and Canadian citizenship.
